Mike O'Leary appointed to FPFC Board of Directors

Oxnard, CA; February 26, 2010 : Boskovich Farms is pleased to announce that Mike O’Leary has been appointed to the Fresh Produce and Floral Council (FPFC) Board of Directors for a three year term.  Mike has worked at Boskovich Farms since 1996 and is Vice President of Sales and Marketing for the company’s Fresh Cut division. 

 The FPFC is an industry association which markets and promotes the fresh produce and floral industries, while improving communication between all segments of these industries to allow for better, more economical handling of fresh produce and floral products from farm to table.  The FPFC was founded in Los Angeles in 1965, and Boskovich Farms has enjoyed a long standing relationship with the association, as both have deep roots in the Los Angeles marketplace, where Boskovich Farms also first began selling their fresh vegetables.   

O’Leary and the other board members were officially introduced at the FPFC’s Annual Dinner Dance on January 30th, though the board and officers began their terms on January 1st, 2010.

 

Santiago Pena Joins FOB Sales Staff

Oxnard, CA; November 13, 2009:  Boskovich Farms, leading grower/shipper/processor of fresh produce, is pleased to announce that Santiago Pena has joined the FOB sales staff. 

 Santiago, who grew up on a family farm in Somis, CA is a recent college graduate from Cal Lutheran University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.   He worked for Ventura County Credit Union as a Branch Representative while attending Cal Lutheran University, and his farming background also includes working at Agoure Ranch and Coast Frost Protection in Somis, CA.

 Russ Widerburg, Sales Manager of Boskovich Farms commented “Santiago continues to impress us with how quickly he is learning the produce business, and will be a strong asset to the Sales Team. His ability to absorb information is helping him grow within the office and the industry more rapidly than most. And he fits in well within our company culture.”

Oxnard, CA; February 17, 2009:  Boskovich Farms, leading grower/shipper/processor of fresh produce, is pleased to announce two additions to its Sales staff with the hiring of Stuart Burke and Brian Lombardi.  

Boskovich Farms has hired Stuart Burke as Sales Representative for its Fresh-Cut Division, where he will sell the company’s Fresh-Cut and value added product line.  Stuart will also be responsible for purchasing outside product and cost management.  Stuart enjoyed a successful career at Affinity Bank in Ventura, CA, most recently as Senior Personal Banker where he developed and maintained new business and consumer account relationships.  Stuart brings diverse business experience and exceptional customer service to his new position.  He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business, from California State University Channel Islands.

Joining the FOB Sales desk is Brian Lombardi.  Brian’s experience in the produce industry includes work as Sales/Broker for ASG Produce where he managed over 50 local, national and international buying brokers of fruits and vegetables.  Brian also worked for Cal Sun produce in Oxnard where he gained wide-ranging experience in produce sales, shipping and field work.  He has also worked as Marketplace and Regional Sales Manager for Powerboat Magazine and WaterCraft World Magazine.  Most recently, Brian was a Seasonal Firefighter for the US Forest Service in the Santa Barbara Ranger District.  He continues as a Fire Cadet with the City of Monrovia on a volunteer basis.  Brian is a graduate of Cal Polytechnic University San Luis Obispo, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness with a concentration in Sales and Marketing.

Cebollitas are also known as Barbeque Onions, as they are the perfect accompaniment to grilled favorites. The name “Cebollitas” is derived from the Spanish word for “little onions”. Both the bulbs (sans roots) and green tops are edible and impart a mild, sweet onion flavor.

Sold in bunches on the wet rack, 2 dozen per box (90 cartons per pallet) and in 12 ‐4 count bags in the value added section of the produce department.

Dave Murphy Joins Boskovich Farms As Director Of Food Safety And Quality Systems

Oxnard, CA; January 28, 2008: Boskovich Farms, leading grower/shipper/processor of fresh produce, is pleased to announce that Dave Murphy has joined the company as Director of Food Safety and Quality Systems. Dave's position will coordinate the continued development of the company's quality and food safety programs.

Dave enjoyed a successful career at Yum! Brands restaurants, developing their food safety and quality programs through partnerships with produce suppliers, and building long term relationships within the industry. He also worked with fresh cut processor Ready Pac Produce as Vice President of Quality Assurance and most recently with Danaco Solutions, a produce procurement company, where he provided food safety support for many leading restaurant companies. Dave served as Chairman of PMA's Food Service Board, and was a member of PMA's Board of Directors and Executive Committee.
